On 4 October 2016, Riccardo Breda, president of the Chamber of commerce of Maremma and Tirreno, signed the Memorandum of Understanding of the European Straits Initiative, formalising the will of the Italian chamber of commerce on the Italian shore of the Corsica Channel to deepen the exchanges initiated with some ESI partners in the framework of PASSAGE project (supported by the Interreg Europe programme).
On 1st September 2016 Livorno and Grosseto Chambers of Commerce are merged in a new legal entity called “Chamber of Commerce of Maremma and Tirreno”. This new body represents 76.000 businesses (99% SMEs; 2015) in an area covering over 200 km of Tuscany region’s coast.
The Chamber of Commerce is an independent public body which supports and promotes the local business community, providing a complete range of services for the entrepreneurial sector and implementing positive actions in favour of enterprises located in its area of intervention. These services can be grouped into three main areas of intervention:
The Chamber of Commerce cooperates with other public bodies at local, regional and national level. Due to its commitment in European projects and internationalisation activities, the Chamber of Commerce has developed relations with European actors sharing its vision to favor the collaboration between local authorities and companies for a socio-economic development supporting the competitiveness through innovation, sustainability and network policies.
