The Chamber of commerce of Maremma and Tirreno joins ESI

On 4 October 2016, Riccardo Breda, president of the Chamber of commerce of Maremma and Tirreno, signed the Memorandum of Understanding of the European Straits Initiative, formalising the will of the Italian chamber of commerce on the Italian shore of the Corsica Channel to deepen the exchanges initiated with some ESI partners in the framework of PASSAGE project (supported by the Interreg Europe programme).

On 1st September 2016 Livorno and Grosseto Chambers of Commerce are merged in a new legal entity called “Chamber of Commerce of Maremma and Tirreno”. This new body represents 76.000 businesses (99% SMEs; 2015) in an area covering over 200 km of Tuscany region’s coast.

The Chamber of Commerce is an independent public body which supports and promotes the local business community, providing a complete range of services for the entrepreneurial sector and implementing positive actions in favour of enterprises located in its area of intervention. These services can be grouped into three main areas of intervention:

• Promotion of local economies – the Chamber of Commerce plays an institutional role in the promotion of local economies through initiatives dedicated to the support of businesses and territories. The aim is to create the best conditions for the enterprises’ and territories’ economic development.
• Global markets – over the last few years, European business has been under increasing pressure with reduced market share and growing trade deficits. Due to this situation it’s fundamental focus the market development actions on a global and international dimension. The Chamber thus contributes to the promotion of enterprises in international markets and the promotion of Made in Italy through several initiatives: the organization of trade missions; the access to European initiatives and programs; the assistance for the attraction of direct investments; the promotion of technical-productive and trade agreements with other countries; the support for the acquisition and sale of patents and licenses.
• Rules and trust – the Chamber means to ensure compliance with the rules to protect the interests of all market stakeholders, whether they are entrepreneurs, professionals, consumers.

The Chamber of Commerce cooperates with other public bodies at local, regional and national level. Due to its commitment in European projects and internationalisation activities, the Chamber of Commerce has developed relations with European actors sharing its vision to favor the collaboration between local authorities and companies for a socio-economic development supporting the competitiveness through innovation, sustainability and network policies.
