The National Institute for Sciences and Technologies of the Sea (INSTM) organises this European Maritime Day local event together with BIOVecQ & SecurAqua consortia.

The workshop will be held in a new laboratory within INSTM La Goulette Center to ensure that participants can discover new equipments in Tunisian laboratory but also stimulate participation in brainstorming sessions focused on future research priorities and how to better coordinate transnational efforts in blue biotechnology. The workshops aim to foster links between researchers, students, emerging stakeholders and SMEs. The objectives are to contribute in stimulating the creation of jobs, adapting aquatic products to consumer new perception, taking into account the protection of our ecosystems and producing new biomolecules from marine origine for various industrial applications.

The new laboratory was created thanks to national and EU funds through a cross-border European Neighbourhood Instrument Italy-Tunisia programme allocating budgets to the strategic and the standard BIOVecQ and SecurAqua projects successively.

As part of the open day challenge, brainstorming will bring discussion, debate and exchange of knowledge and commitment to maximise Blue Growth in the Mediterranean region.
