The European Straits Initiative Political conference in Brussels

The 22 october 2014

Brussels

On 23 November 2010, under the leadership of Kent County Council and Pas-de-Calais County Council, the European Straits Initiative (ESI) was launched. Fifteen local authorities or groups of local authorities came together in order to have the particular characteristics of the straits they border recognised and to foster the harmonious development of these areas.

Today, in 2014, following the renewal of the European Parliament and the beginning of a new European programming period, the European Straits Initiative has matured and is ready to face new challenges, largely thanks to the work done within the INTERREG IV C project NOSTRA (Network Of STRAits).

The NOSTRA project and the European Straits Initiative Memorandum of Understanding both conclude at the end of the year.

On 22 October 2014 in Brussels the closing conference of the NOSTRA project and the political ESI conference for the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding will take place.
